Phone Sex
Phone sex was probably the first type of virtual sex we have known. By definition, phone sex is any type of sexual explicit conversation between two or more people. Usually, at least one of the partners in phone sex is masturbating while fantasizing with the descriptions and the voice of the other participant. During the 80’s and 90’s, phone sex services were very common in several countries. Today, with the high availability of the internet, phone sex is no longer so popular, since there are other cheaper or more interactive ways of virtual sex through the internet.
There are still some phone sex services available, although this is not a profitable business as it was in the past decades when commercial phone sex was popular. The most obvious purpose of providing such service is making money by offering clients a live masturbation aid. For clients, the biggest advantage of phone sex is that they are able to unleash some sexual fantasies that they are too embarrassed to discuss with real partners or something considered inappropriate so they prefer to talk about it anonymously. In some countries, it’s common to find people who work as phone sex callers in their private homes, using toll free services. Those people use phone sex as a way of making “easy” money or even as a second job option.
As well as it happens with cyber sex and other forms of virtual sex, it’s a matter of constant discussion whether phone sex may be considered a real form of infidelity. Sometimes the level of intimacy between people participating of phone sex is enough to be considered cheating, while in other cases, the reason of fantasizing about sex with the help of other person can be considered cheating.
It’s also important to say that being a phone sex worker can’t be characterized as prostitution at any level, and there’s no legislation that prohibits a person of working in such activity, since there is no physical contact between phone sex participants.
